A chance notice of an article in the Arkham Advertiser leads to a horrifying discovery.

It has been quite a long time since you last seen or spoke to your uncle, Samuel Osgood, who has been considered somewhat of a black sheep on your father’s side of the family for decades. So, it came as quite a shock when you recently received a letter from Uncle Osgood in his home in Newburyport, MA. Despite your familiarity with your uncle’s eccentricity, the letter did little to reverse this belief. However, daily obligations prevented you from following up on your uncle’s strange letter or attempts to contact him. That is until this morning.

This morning, while reading the Arkham Advertiser over breakfast, you by chance find an article towards the back. It detailed a rescue of a man off the coast of Glouchester, MA who was snatched from the chilly waters by a passing boat. What you are unprepared for is the identity of the hapless victim – your uncle. Immediately, you telephone the Arkham Asylum and discover that, indeed, Mr. Osgood has been transferred there. Being the nearest relative, and probably the only one willing enough to help out the estranged man, you inform the doctor that you would most happy to visit Samuel and help uncover what lead up to this unfortunate accident.

“…the young couple were said to be fine upstanding people both of strong minds and constitution. Yet, two weeks after moving into their new home both Mr and Mrs Macarino were committed to Arkham Asylum. Has the infamous Corbitt house claimed two more victims?”

You have been hired by a local real estate agent who desires someone to investigate a so-called haunted house on his portfolio. With all manner of wild and unsubstantiated stories circulating about the property, the agent is having difficulty in selling the house. Your job is to investigate and debunk these wild stories and give the property a clean bill of health, so to speak.

Arkham Nights reduces some of the down time in the standard Arkham Horror game by including encounters at street locations. Normally, an investigator who ends his or her movement in a street location has nothing to do until his next turn – Arkham Nights contains encounter booklets for each of the standard street locations so that players who are “cleaning up Arkham” can have a little encounter fun, too.

Bring the true power and horror of Lovecraftian tomes to the standardArkham Horror game, and the power to do research with these benighted tomes in future Arkham Investigations cases.

One of the ways in which the original Arkham Horror game deviates pretty strongly from the source literature is the importance of the benighted tomes from the stories. Arkham Book Club looks to correct that by bringing the tomes a higher prominence in the game. This is done with several techniques:

By giving them more power. Often, when drawing a tome during play, players are disappointed because the tomes typically only had marginal relevance. Now, they have a greater role to play in the game.

By giving them more versatility. In the stories, the tomes are rife with forbidden knowledge, and could be used to research problems at hand. Arkham Book Club tomes can be applied to many situations, not just one.

By giving them more ambiance. The printable, foldable tomes are literally little books you can peruse and study, with flavor text that draws out the history of each of the fictional books. They feel more like the Lovecraftian tomes than the cards you earn in the game.

Includes 15 printable, foldable tome booklets to cover the base game.

You can also create your own tomes with the Strange Eons editor. If you’re lamenting the fact that these tomes don’t cover all expansions, this is your out, at least until we unearth our own versions of these tomes.

Strange climatic events have been plaguing Arkham for the past months. Something dark and alien, which for years has waited in the shadow of the human race, has come to start a new phase of their plans, a phase where mortal men play an important role inside their plans. The whole matter began with the historic and unprecedented floods in the country. It was the 3rd of November 1927. After the strange floods and news of the difficult rescues, many of our friends embarked on curious discussions and appealed to us to shed what light we could on the subject.

Foil the plans of a Cthulhu cult who wants to raise Cthulhu from his slumber at R'Lyeh. Good beginner case for 1-3 players.

Something is amiss in the town of Arkham. An aura of depression hovers over the town, as if brought in by the front of steel gray clouds that have been drenching the town in a light but steady rain for the last two weeks. Sad, unpleasant stories filled with personal tragedies seem to dominate the newspapers, and you sleep fitfully every night.

Still, you were unprepared for the sense of dread you felt when the telegram came through. Your good friend, Henry Waxford, has suffered a breakdown, and his wife has summoned you, in hopes that seeing an old friend will help revive the man.

You met Henry a long time ago at a tiny studio that was showing some of his work. His meticulous still lifes, with their great splashes of vibrant color showing cornucopias of food, flowers, and grain, had moved you, and you struck up a conversation with him. His manner was as vibrant and cheerful as his paintings, and his good nature made you fast friends for several years before family and other interests caused you to drift away from him. Thinking back on his pragmatic, thoughtful nature, you wonder what could have caused him to have a breakdown.

As you reread the telegram, guilt wracks you, for it has been a long time since you walked through the once- beautiful French Hill district to his modest home – you should have visited earlier. Immediately, you sent back a message saying that you would be happy to help. You only hope that you can.

Foil the plans of a Cthulhu cult who wants to raise Cthulhu from his slumber at R’Lyeh. Good beginner case for 1-3 players.

Cthulhu: Dread Sleeper of R’Lyeh was the first casebook written for Arkham Investigations. It is designed to be both an introduction to the game for new players as well as an example for people looking to write their own casebooks.
